Koroner Bypass Cerrahisinde Girişim Yapılmamış Asemptomatik Karotis Hastalığının Orta Dönem Takip Sonuçları
1Kalp ve Damar Cerrahisi Kliniği, Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Ankara
Objective: Stroke is one of the major complications that may occur following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and cause significant increase in morbidity and mortality. There is still a controversy about whether isolated asymptomatic carotid artery disease requires an intervention and about timing of that intervention. Material and Methods: Nine patients (asypmtoma- tic for carotid artery disease), diagnosed of carotid artery disease during routine check-up prior to CABG surgery between 2007-2011 at our hospital were prospectively followed up. Results: During the mean follow-up period which was 21,75±9,76 months (12-42 months), there was no progression of the lesions. Discussion: There is still a contraversy for the patients diagnosed of coronary artery disease requiring surgery with asypmtomatic carotid artery disease about how the exact surgical approach is going to be. Conclusion: Intervention of patients requiring surgery for coronary artery diesase with asypmtomatic carotid artery stenosis can be postponed for later on minimizing the risk factors.
