Upon advancements in technology and increased experience in pathologies related to aortic aneurysm, endovascular repair techniques have found more place over open surgery. However, intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) are serious complications after endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for r-AAA. ACS is observed in approximately 30% of patients that have repair for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, and is associated with a mortality rate of approximately 70%. If not recognized early and not treated in a correct manner, ACS may lead to progressive organ failure and death. The preferred treatment of ACS is to perform a laparotomy for decompression. Abdominal decompression therapy in patients with ACS is accepted as a life saving procedure. In this short report, we aimed to share our case with abdominal compartment syndrome after treating the patient with EVAR due to a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, and to review the literature.
