DOI : 10.9739/uvcd.2014-42057 Abnormal connections between arteries and veins are defined as arteriovenous fistulas (AVF). Iatrogenic trauma constitutes the majority of arterial traumas in childhood. The incidence of post-traumatic complications ranged between 0.3-2.6%. The most common post-traumatic complications are AVF, arterial aneurysm/pseudoaneurysm, hematoma, thrombosis, arterial dissection and acute limb ischemia. If left untreated, prevalence of heart failure and ischemia after AVF is approximately 3.6%. Small AVMs can close by themselves. However, larger AVFs can be treated with surgery, endovascular stents, and ultrasound-guided compression. Here we present surgical management of a 22-month-old boy with a high-flow AVF between the right radial artery and the adjacent vein. Keywords : Iatrogenic; arterio-venous fistula; complication
