Management of acute pulmonary embolism during COVID-19 pandemic

Although data are accumulating from many countries everyday, it is known that the most common reason for hospitalization of COVID-19 patients is severe respiratory distress. Acute pulmonary embolism is an important cause of death in hospitalized patients. Rapid diagnosis and treatment have a vital importance, as the majority of deaths occur with shock within the first few hours after presentation. In this article, we present a summary of COVID-19 pandemic and give an expert opinion report for common problems related to pulmonary thromboembolic disease and treatment modalities during the outbreak.
