EXTRACRANIAL INTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY ANEURYSMS
1Türkiye Yüksek İhtisas Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Kalp ve Damar Cerrahisi Kliniği-ANKARA
Surgical approach as ligation and/or graft interposition was performed to three extracranial internal carotid artery
aneurysms carrying different etiologies. They have technical disturbances, different etiologies, varying diagnostic and
curative approaches therefore internal carotid artery aneurysms are interesting and also infrequent cases. Complications as
thromboembolic cerebral ischemia, risk of rupture and cranial nerve injury due to compression versus satisfactory surgical
long term results support aggressive surgical approach for these aneurysms. (Turkish J Vasc Surg 2003; 12(1): 43-47)
