Surgical Approach to a Case with Bilateral Iliac Artery Aneurysm: Case Report
1Kalp ve Damar Cerrahisi AD, Pamukkale Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Denizli2Kalp ve Damar Cerrahisi Kliniği, Diyarbakır Devlet Hastanesi, Diyarbakır DOI : 10.9739/uvcd.2013-37157 Internal iliac aneurysms are quite rare. The incidence of rupture and mortality rate is high since they usually progress asymptomatically. Endovascular or surgical interventions can be chosen as the treatment of aorto-iliac aneurysms, after taking the accompanying diseases into ac- count. A 76-year-old male patient with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease presented with left lower abdominal quadrant pain. The patient was diagnosed with bilateral common iliac aneurysms in addition to right isolated internal iliac aneurysm on abdominal computerized tomog- raphy. Endovascular intervention treatment was not preferred in this patient because of the con- cern for both internal iliac occlusions. We aimed to present a case who underwent aneurysmectomy and aorto-bi-iliac dacron graft bypass with bilateral paramedian incision and retroperitoneal appro- ach. Keywords : Aneurysm; iliac aneurysm
