Objective: We aimed to present our experience and results of interventional vascular procedures performed by cardiovascular surgery clinic due to chronic critical arterial stenosis. Material and Methods: Between December 2007 and December 2010, 51 patients (47 male, 4 female) were performed peripheral artery balloon angioplasty and/or stenting for critical limb ischemia due to lower extremity arterial stenosis. Results: After the intervention, full or near full openings (90% or above) were obtained in peroperative angiographic controls. No complication was encountered except for inguinal hematomas in 2 patients which dissolved spontaneously in 2 weeks period. In the early and midterm follow-up period, no stent occlusion was encountered. Conclusion: Peripheral bypass surgery in critical occlusive atherosclerotic vascular disease is a method often applied. Interventional radiological procedures are more important treatment methods because of being less invasive than surgery and more comfortable for patients. In our point of view this study is one of the valuable series which reveals experience and successful results of cardiovascular surgeons for PTA and stenting of the peripheral vascular patho- logies.
