DOI : 10.9739/uvcd.2016-51827 Objective: Ruthetherford category 4 and more severe symptomatic patients are regarded as critical limb ischemia (CLI). Owing to the advances in catheterization equipment and angiography techniques, more aggressive infrapopliteal interventions may be succesfully performed. The results of infrapopliteal angioplasty is still debated in CLI patients in our country. Material and Methods: Between May 2009 and June 2015, infrapopliteal angioplasty was performed in 34 CLI patients, and cross-sectional results were collected for this study. Results: Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) was performed for revascularization of 65 lesions in 37 limbs as the first line treatment option. At first intervention, 73% of the extremities were successfully revascularized. Limb salvage and survey rates at the end of 2 years were calculated as 93% and 78%, respectively. Conclusion: Nowadays PTA yields equivalent results to surgery, and it can be applied as the first line therapy in CLI patients. With increased experience in infrapopliteal angioplasty and new catheter technology, better results are expected considering limb salvage and survey in the near future.
