THE IMPORTANCE OF TEMPORARY INTRALUMINAL SHUNTS iN LOWER LIMB VASCULAR TRAUMA

Vascular Surgery was performed 14 patients that were temporary intraluminal shunt inserted. Nasog astri c sonda was used in 7, blood spout in 6 and nelaton sonda in 2 patients. Transportation time was between 3.2 and 17 hours. Systemic anticoagu­ lant can be used in four patients because of multiorgan trauma and bleeding tendency. Fascioti:ımy was ro uti nely performed tor ali patients. We found that 4 shunt materials were thrombosed in our department. Two of them were popliteal artery ot­ her two of them in superfacial femoral artery. Amputation was performed in three patients.

Temporary intraluminal shunts permitting both craniocerebral, abdominal and thorocal surgery in multi organ t rauma condi­ tion and transportation to vascular surgery center without lower limb warm ischemia.
