THE EVALUATION OF SURGERY OF ADULT AORTIC COARCTATIN IN REGARD OF HYPERTENSION

The optimal age for elective repair of coarcta ti on is con troversia l. The optimal age should be assosiated with a minim al risk of late hypertension, recoarctation, and other cardiovascular disorders. lmpairment of humoral and neu ral regulation of blood pressure may contribute to preoperative and postoperative hypertension in coarctation of the aorta. 26 adult patients were un­ derwent to the surgi c al repair of the aortic coarctation between 1985 and October/1998 at our clinic. The preoperative systo­ lic and diastolic blood pressures were higher than the postoperative blood pressures (fo r mean systolic blood pressur e 46.5 mmHg, p<0.001; for mean diastolic blood pressure 22.3 mmHg, p<0.001). 92.5% of the patie n t s do not n eed any hyperten­ sion therapy. We believe that the surgical therapy of the aortic coarctation is neccesary to decrease hyp ertension under nor­ mat value.
