Abstract

in our clinic; /rom january 1992 to may 1999, 14 patients underwent surgical treatment lor chronic juxtarenal total aor tic occlusion.

in ali patients the surgical procedure performed was aortabifemoral bypass, in order to obtain direcı aortic revascu larisation. Proksimal anastomoses were end ıo end in 11 patients, and in 3 patients, whose lesions were at the back side of aorta, were end to side. Distal anastomoses were performed as direct anastomoses to femoral artery or pro fundoplasty. Dacron or PTFE were used as graft material.

There were no operative mortality. The patients were followed up lora median of 47+ 4.3 months. There was 1 late death. Grafts were found to be patent in periodical controls.

We concluded that: in almost ali patients with chronic juxtarenal total aortic occlusion, the cause of the proximal occ lusive lesion was secondary thrombus and the surgical treatment of this lesion consist of thrombectomy and rutin graft implantation.
