Regulization of vascular tonus is one of the func­ tions of vascular endothelium. in 1980 ıt was shown that, the relaxation of rubbit aorta by asetilcolin depends on the vascular endothelium and the tirsi time it suggested that, there was an endothelium derived relaxing factor (EDRF). in 1986 two independent investigators suggested that, EDRF could be nitric oxide (NO). NO hasa protective effect on the vascular damage. There isn't any NO synthetase or very little amount of NO synthetase in venous grafts. Using a NO donor locally may have a scientific importance.
