IMPORTANCE OF ENDOTHELIUM IN VASCULAR SURGERY

Most of current vascuiar surgical procedures have been affected from endothellal hormonal properties. There is a close relalionship between succesful surgical resuits and residuel vascuiar endothelium. It is assurned that local endothelial hormonal effects are Important in the vascuiar procedures, We now appreciate the vascuiar endothellum as an active participant in regulation of blood vessel tane, permeability, acihesion and diapedesis of leukocyles, coagulation, and growih of surrounding tissues. As such, vascuiar endothellum must be considered as a widely InfluentIal "surgical organ'. ln this study, we reviewed vascuiar endothelial cell physiology and its metabolism in both normal and disease state.
