EVALUATION OF CONSERVATIVE MEDICAL THERAPY MODALITIES iN RAYNAUD PHENOMENON

Material and Method: Sixty patients with primary Raynaud phenomenon, admitted to our outpatient clinics between 1999 and 2001, divided to three groups. We applied conservative precautions to all cases (cessation of smoking, pre­ vention from cold ete.). Also nifedipin + aspirin + pentoxyphillin protocol had been used in Group 1, prazo s in w as ad ­ d ed to this protocol in Group il and in Group 111 i nste ad of prazosin, nitroglycerin TTS bands were used. Cases were followed monthly and at sixth month they were evaluated with anamnestic subjective symptoms and cold water stress tesis.

Results: After applying therapy protocols in 43 of 60 cases we determined total anamnestic improvement (Group il had the highest rate, 80%) and in 40 cases (66,6%) initial cold water stress test's pathological result returned to nor­ mal (Group il had the highest rate). Therapy results are betler with calcium channel blockers and combining them with prazosin or nitroglycerin increase the paliative result rates with a synergistic effect.
