ENDOVASCULAR REPAIR OF SUBCLAVIAN ARTERIOVENOUS FISTULA FOLLOWING PENETRATING TRAUMA

Penetrating injuries of the subclavian artery are rare but surgery can be associated with morbidity due to ils inaccessibility. Endovascular steni graft application is a useful treatment option in complicated cases and might be preferred to reoperative surgery. We report a case of subclavian arteriovenous fistula following failed primary surgical repair of traumatic arterial and venous injury. Endovascular sten! graft was deployed in the arteriovenous fistula area. There was no complicalion during the follow-up period of 16 months. Endovascular treatment should be remembered as an alternative less invasive approach in selected high risk patients.
