Abstract
C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute phase reactant produced by the liver. it is important in defen ce against bacteria and foreign substances and it has been used clinically tor monitoring infection and autoimmune disorders. A variety of different methods lor determining the CRP concentration in serum have been used. Recently, several automated high-sensitivity CRP (hs-CRP) assays have been developed lor routine use. High-sensitivityCRP methods possess greater precision at low concentrations of CRP. it has been indicated that elevated levels of hs-CRP predict risk of myocardial infarction (MI) , stroke and peripheral vascular disease (PVH). in several studies have demonstrated that increased hs-CRP levels are alsa predictive of vascular events among these without hyperlipidemia. Therefore,hs CRP levels should be evaluated in combination with lipid values and imaging methods to provide the clinical usefulness.
