Ekstrakraniyal Karotid Arterde Mikotik Psödoanevrizma

Pseudoaneurysms of the extracranial carotid artery are rare but may present as a mass, with ischemic symptoms, or with fatal hemorrhage. The most common cause appears to be atherosclerosis, resulting in true aneurysms. Pseudoaneurysms, or false aneurysms, occur from trauma, spontaneous carotid artery dissection, infection, previous carotid endarterectomy, radiation, and connective tissue disease and can subsequently calcify as a secondary process in a dysplastic artery. Treatment has been limited to open surgical repair and limited experience with endovascular repair. We report the occurrence of a large ruptured mycotic pseudoaneurysm of the common carotid artery. The patient underwent surgery and was discharged on the 10th postoperative day.
