Geç Dönem Komplikasyonlara Yönelik Yapılan Arteriyovenöz Fistül Revizyonları

Introduction: Patients with end stage renal failure need good arteriovenous fistulas for effective hemodialysis in the period till transplantation. In this study, we aimed to investigate late complications and revisions after arteriovenous fistula operations. Material and Methods: Twenty two (14 male, 8 female; mean age 61.59 ± 13.05; 34-75) of the 91 arteriovenous fistula operation which was done between December 2010 and May 2012 were re-operated due to late complicati- ons. All operations were done under local anesthesia with Bupivacaine. All patients were evaluated with doppler ultrasonography in preoperative and postoperative firsth month. Results: Revision operations that were done due to late complications were 24% (n=22) of all arterivenous fistula operations. Thrombosis (40.09%) was the most frequently seen late complication and aneurysm 27.27%, arterial steal syndrome 18.18%, venous hypertansion with upper extremity edema 13.63%, respectively. We did not encounter infection in our patient group. One month seconder patency rate after revision operations was found as 77.27%. Conclusion: Thrombosis is the most frequently en- countered late complication of arteriovenous fistulas. We thought that good preoperative examination and effective surgical techniques for fistula revisions could prolong patient survey and increase the quality of life.
