Endotel Disfonksiyonu Araştırmasında Noninvaziv İndikatör Olarak Kullanılan Periferik Arteriyel Endotel Fonksiyon Testi ve Sonuçları

Objective: Following non-invasive occlusion of the brachial artery, endothelial function responses and the factors effecting the endothelial function were evaluated by measuring the dilatation depending on the endothelial flow. Material and Methods: 65 patients (50 male, 15 fema- le) were involved in the study. The patients were divided into 4 subgroups; patients with no risk factors (group 1 as a control group, 15 patients), patients with diabetes mellitus only (group 2, 14 patients), patients with chronic hypertension only (group 3, 16 patients), and finally patients who were only smokers (group 4, 20 patients). Radial artery diameters of all the patients were measured on the non-dominant arm. Mesurements were repeated after brachial artery occlusion and en- dothelial function responses were compared. Results: Non-invasive measurements of the control and the diabetic groups revealed remarkably negative results in the diabetic group (p=0.04). No statistical differences amongst other groups were detected. Conclusion: Endothelial dysfunction can be evaluated non-invasively. Endothelial dysfunction of the diabetic patients demonstrates remar- kably negative effects.
