Raynaud Fenomeni Klinik Semptomları ile Başvuran Bir Polimiyozit Olgusu

A 20-year-old male patient was admitted with the complaints of cyanosis in his hands and feet in cold weather for 5 months. He was diagnosed as Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) by the cold stimulation test. Since his medical history revealed fatigue, myalgia and difficulty while climbing the stairs, neurology consultation was requested. The neurological examination sho- wed proximal weakness of the lower extremities and gastrocnemius muscles pseudohypertrophy. Serum CK level was increased. Since EMG and muscle biopsy were compatible with polymyosi- tis, 1 mg/kg/day prednisolone therapy was initiated. After 3 months follow-up, it was observed that his muscle weakness and myalgia partially improved, and serum CK levels regressed to the normal values. Not only systemic connective tissue diseases should be considered in the patients with RP, but also polymyositis should be considered. With early diagnosis and treatment, prom- ising results can be obtained. Therefore in such cases neurological evaluation should be perfor- med.
