Chimney, Periscope and Sandwich Techniques in Endovascular Aortic Repair: Review

Among endovascular treatments intended to problematic aortic pathologies like aneurysms including visceral or supra-aortic branches or with a lacking safe proximal or distal landing zone, techniques like chimney, periscope and sandwich techniques have been increasingly used as alternatives to surgery and fenestrated/branched endografts in the last decade. The greatest advantage of these techniques is their applicability in emergency patients who are not eligible for surgery. Mid-term results of these techniques are encouraging with a certain need for further studies. The aim of this report is to review these advanced endovascular techniques that are performed in a few experienced centers, in the light of the literature data.
