Brachial artery thrombosis due to a giant, stented arteriovenous fistula aneurysm in a renal transplant patient

Hand ischemia due to thrombosed arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) is a rare and serious complication. In recent years, angiographic techniques and stenting to AVFs through interventional radiology have widely used in patients with chronic renal failure. The use of steroids following renal transplantation may cause dilatation and thrombosis of AVFs. Herein, we describe symptomatic hand ischemia due to a thrombosed, stented AVF in a renal transplant patient.
